Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21, 1983. Maggie Grace is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out of high school and moved to Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. Although she was struggling financially, her 2001 debut was as Rachel's Room's main character. The role she played as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV film Murder In Greenwich in 2002 earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played the lead actress in Lost in its two initial seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. After leaving the show, Grace was keen to work as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. In addition, she appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice on Malice in Wonderland which is an updated interpretation that the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the character as Shannon in two more episodes of Lost as well as the show's finale. In 2013 she appears in Season 6 of Californication. She plays Faith an actress who is a muse for the stars and catches the eye from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). As a member of the Gyllenhaal family She is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career as a teenager with small roles in several of her father's films and appeared together with her brother in popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, as well as Sherrybaby (a drama) received her nominations for Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). She was recognized for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. Then she played in comedies and dramas, including Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 Her other characters include as a secret agent for The Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well singing in Frank 2014 and also as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the title role. Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
